# Why are my messages showing the wrong phone number after transferring my service?

When you transfer your phone number to Meaningful Planet, you might notice that iMessage (on iPhones) or RCS messages (on Android phones) are still showing your old phone number. This happens because these messaging services need to be updated to recognise your newly transferred number.

Don't worry - your regular text messages will work normally, and this is easy to fix.

# For iPhone Users

Your iPhone needs to re-register iMessage and FaceTime with your new number. Here's how to do this:

1. **First, turn off your messaging services:**
 ****
* Open Settings and tap Messages
* Switch off iMessage
* Go back to Settings, tap FaceTime, and switch it off

2. **Verify your number is correct:**

* In Settings, tap Phone, then My Number
* Make sure your new Meaningful Planet number is shown
* Update it if needed

3. **Restart your iPhone completely** **
**

4. **Turn the services back on:**

* Return to Settings and turn iMessage back on
* Do the same for FaceTime
* Wait a few minutes while they activate

5. **Double-check your settings:**

* In Settings > Messages > Send & Receive, ensure your new number is selected
* In Settings > FaceTime, verify your new number is listed and selected

# For Android Users

If you're using Google Messages with RCS (chat features), you'll need to reset your messaging profile. Here's how:

1. **Reset your chat features:**

* Open the Messages app settings
* Find Chat Features or RCS Settings
* Turn off Chat Features
* Clear the app's cache and data through your phone's Settings > Apps > Messages
* Restart your phone
* Turn Chat Features back on

2. **If you're still having issues:**

* Visit Google's RCS deregistration tool at [messages.google.com/disable-chat](messages.google.com/disable-chat)
* Enter your old phone number
* Wait up to 24 hours for the reset to complete
* Re-enable chat features in your Messages app
