Does Meaningful Planet have WiFi calling?
Yes, all Meaningful Planet SIMs and eSIMs are enabled for both WiFi calling and VoLTE as standard.
What is WiFi calling?
WiFi calling lets you make and receive calls and texts over a WiFi connection instead of relying on mobile signal. It is built into most modern smartphones and uses your normal Meaningful Planet number, so the person you are calling sees no difference. No app is needed.
It's particularly useful in places where mobile signal is weak or unavailable, such as basements, rural properties, or thick-walled buildings.
Does it cost extra?
No. WiFi calling uses your existing plan minutes and texts in exactly the same way as a standard mobile call. There is no extra charge for using it - and there is no impact on your data usage.
How do I turn on WiFi calling?
The steps vary slightly depending on your phone.
On an iPhone, go to Settings, then Mobile Service, then WiFi Calling, and toggle to On. If you have more than one SIM or eSIM set up, select the relevant one first.
On an Anroid phone, open the Phone app, select the three dots on the top right and tap Settings. Scroll down and toggle WiFi Calling to On.
Once it is enabled, your phone will automatically use WiFi to handle your calls when it is the stronger option.
Does WiFi calling work if I have no signal?
Yes - one of the great things about WiFi calling is it enables calls to connect through WiFi even if your phone isn't receiving any network signal. This applies to both inbound and outbound calls - so it's especially useful if you live in a property where traditional network coverage is poor or non-existent.
What if I cannot see the WiFi Calling option in my settings?
A few things are worth checking. First, make sure your phone's software is up to date, as older versions sometimes do not show the option. Second, try restarting your phone, as this can resolve temporary glitches. If the option is still not appearing, please get in touch with us at [email protected] and we can help investigate further.
Will it switch automatically between WiFi and mobile signal?
Yes. Once WiFi calling is enabled, your phone manages the switch between WiFi and mobile signal without you needing to do anything. If you walk out of WiFi range during a call, it will hand over to mobile signal seamlessly on most devices. Similarly, the call will hand over from the network to the WiFi automatically if the signal is struggling to maintain the call.
