Meaningful Planet Charitable Giving Policy

Purpose

This policy sets out Meaningful Planet's formal commitment to charitable giving. Giving is not an add-on to our business – it is our reason for existing. This policy codifies that commitment in writing so it is consistently upheld regardless of the circumstances of any particular year.

Scope

This policy applies to Meaningful Planet Limited (company number 15028121) and governs all charitable contributions, including cash donations and in-kind contributions.

Commitment

Meaningful Planet commits to donating the equivalent of the following to environmental restoration charities each year:

  • 10% of B2C (consumer) revenue
  • 10% of all profits

This commitment is maintained regardless of the company's financial performance in any given year.

Charitable Partners

All charitable partners must be registered UK charities focused on environmental restoration. Our current partners are UK Wildlife Trusts delivering projects including:

  • Chalk stream protection in southern England
  • Seagrass restoration in the Solent
  • Rewilding and biodiversity improvement at Strawberry Hill (BCN Wildlife Trust)
  • River restoration at Ickenham Marshes
  • Grassland restoration at Gutteridge Wood Nature Reserve
  • Peatland restoration
  • Kelp forest restoration
  • Beaver reintroduction

Partners are reviewed annually against our charitable partner screening criteria.

In-Kind Contributions

In addition to cash donations, Meaningful Planet counts qualifying in-kind contributions toward the giving commitment. These include:

  • Employee volunteering time – valued at a fair market rate per hour and included in the annual total
  • Any in-kind product donations, converted to monetary value using a reasonable methodology

Measurement and Reporting

  • Donation totals are calculated annually from Xero accounting records
  • Revenue figures are sourced from audited financial accounts, split by B2C and B2B
  • In-kind contributions are documented with dates, hours, rates, and recipients
  • The annual giving total and percentage of revenue is reviewed by the COO and reported to the Board
